CESL will offer a 50-hour Assessment for Second/Foreign Language Teaching online course. This is a course focused on classroom-based assessment and designed specifically for English language teachers and administrators in the United States and abroad who wish to develop their assessment competence in order to better measure and promote their students’ English language learning.

The Assessment for Second/Foreign Language Teaching course aims at developing teachers’ assessment literacy, including their knowledge of key assessment principles, test-creation and evaluation skills. Teachers will learn how to more effectively assess both receptive skills (reading, listening) and productive skills (speaking, writing), and improve their assessment competence in dealing with the issues and challenges related to effective classroom assessment.

This course is taught by Dr. Eddy White, Assessment Coordinator at CESL and Associate Professor at the University of Arizona’s College of Humanities. He is a specialist in classroom-based assessment and has been presenting, publishing, and conducting teacher training in this area for more than a decade.

The cost of the course is $595 tuition plus $50 fees. We also offer group discounts for institutions who register at least five teachers. The deadline to apply is March 10th and the course will run from March 20th to May 12th, 2017.
